Finally, I am adding the last section of the layout. The track layout is in this section is based on John Allen's Time Saver switching game.
I built this 2x6 module originally for my hobby shop display but since I could never get any customers to play the
game I decided to bring this unit home and incorporate it into my layout.
Soon, the small town of Squaw Creek will be nestled in the mountains.
The creek named Squaw Creek will run through a canyon surrounded by
mountains where the two units are joined together . A Walthers double track Truss Bridge will span the creek.
There are now 1 twenty inch wide walkway and 2 twenty-three inch wide walkways separating the layouts New photos will be added as construction is added to the layout |

NOVEMBER 22, 2003 Bridges & Mountain construction Kit bashed automobile bridge is added Rock molds are added Next step is to paint all plaster cloth with 2 coats of watered down plaster and fill around rock molds using Sculpturmold so they will blend into the mountain

DECEMBER 15, 2003 Accent Mold Staining & Painting Plaster Stain rock molds with black ink & alcohol solution to bring out details Paint all white plaster earth colored latex paint

DECEMBER 19, 2003 Rock Final Coloring Paint rock formations with acrylic artist paint. Start with very thinned paint working your way up to almost full strength to obtain various shades

DECEMBER 31, 2003 I decided to rock the whole canyon. These photo show about 25 rock molds in place with about another 30 yet to place

JANUARY 15,2004 Mountain road created and 4" square platforms for 5 Squaw Creek buildings have been placed in position

FEBRUARY 1, 2004 Cut Stone auto bridge installed - temporary building shown. Lots of work yet to do

MARCH 3, 2004 Installing 2 new structures. One scratch built wooden building. I copied the design from an FSM kit. The other building is a DPM plastic kit

MARCH 25, 2004 Grassing & real earth additions begin. After painting all plaster areas with earth colored latex paint, sifted real dirt is applied over all areas. Woodland Scenics & Busch turfs are added over the earth. The entire area is soaked with a watered down solution of Elmers white glue. Wooden gas station & 3 other structures are now in place, awaiting final details and final weathering Trees and additional structures will be added next.

APRIL 17, 2004 Installed 5th structure, scratch built out of plaster using various wall molds. A hot dog stand will soon be installed along the road. 2nd half of road, hills & turf yet to finish, plus detailing out the gas station, not to mention still needing to add vehicles & trees

DECEMBER 12, 2004 Finally getting around to finish the plastering The first 2 photos show the mountain with Woodland Scenics plaster cloth applied over wadded up newspapers. The 2nd set of photos show the same areas after brushing on 2 thinned down coats of plaster paris

JANUARY 1, 2005 Plaster painted earth colored latex paint Rock formations brushed with Higgins Black India Ink then painted with raw sienna water based artist paint

JANUARY 5, 2005 All plaster area covered with real sifted dry earth then Woodland Scenics grasses are applied over the earth Next step will be creation of the creek bed and initation water using Envirotex
