The lady in photo #2 purchased the Missourian in January 2014
Due to the city's NO SMOKING ordinance, she closed it in August 2014

They built a new Rent-All Equipment store at 3002 South 6th Street
The store at this location was converted into Rent-All Furniture
This location now rents new and used furniture and appliances

The Thirs-T was a subsidiary of A & W Root Beer
It featured car hop service
Their Broasted Chicken was the best in town
We lost a great place to eat when Thirs-t closed
Another restaurant opened later at this location but didn't last long
Hill Side Motors, an auto sales company followed

In 1889, People's Furniture opened on the southeast corner of King Hill Avenue & Missouri Avenue
The family-owned furniture store was opened by F.R. Kimber and F.E. Vancil in South St. Joseph
Longtime employee John Furlong purchased the business from Mr. Kimber and Mr. Vancil in 1949
In 1971, Mr. Furlong moved the store to 3603 Frederick Avenue
People's Furniture closed in 2014
In the mid 1970's, the Paradise Donut Shop was here
The 4 Aces BBQ shared the same building with Paradise Donuts
The donut shop, owned by Jan Lloyd, closed around 1995

Evidently it was either torn down or absorbed by the building in the photo

In 1953, this was listed as a US Post office station
Before this was Bill's Pub, it was Hindery's Coast to Coast Hardware
In 1955, a fire destroyed the two buildings on the north side of 6210
Bill Hindery had rented 6206 King Hill to the US Post Office
Bill's Pub has since built additional seating where the 6208 was
6206 King Hill is now just a gravel parking lot
An electrical fire happened in the hardware store in May 1965
Fire doors between buildings failed to closed
It is currently Bill's Pub, a tavern
